It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
