The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue

Each time a prominent awards ceremony draws close, there’s always a clamor to include of new categories to honor underappreciated efforts and fill the passions of fans dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. Equally deserving are tabletop games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent and important of all. The demand is this: We need a category for puzzle games.

Categorizing Game Types

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it’s very subjective, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why cinema institutions don’t do it. Yet it remains an essential concession for the industry of video games, showing incredible range they barely qualify one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, genre categories are essential.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards presently include genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types effectively encompass many game types, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No suitable classification appears to put them. Think about these recent excellent titles, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

The Representation Problem

There are dozens outstanding logic titles launched regularly that have no home at major award shows, except when they manage to fit for categories like Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game received no recognition for anything that year
  • A different innovative game was excluded that year
  • A beloved organization game was overlooked recently
  • Just some puzzle games managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, however the design of the puzzle game is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences worldwide maintaining this status for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience challenges famous sandbox experiences for the title of highest-selling title ever; it also contends for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. One could readily select a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these include experiences without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators are working at the hard edge interactive creation, creating some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
